Quand j’ai entendu ce groupe pour la première fois en 2019, il faisait la première partie de GET THE SHOT. Cette nuit-là, ils m’ont renversé avec leur énergie et leur style impénitent. Oui, c’est ce que le hardcore est censé être, et SCARFOLD le faisait si bien que j’ai accroché tout de suite. Retour au présent avec la sortie de leur quatrième album « We Shall Suffer » à la toute fin de septembre. Ces messieurs continuent d’apporter un ton violent avec leur musique et leur message.
Du premier single (et vidéo) « Born Decayed » jusqu’à la fin très douce de « Spit On Hope », j’ai pu entendre vingt-huit minutes de rythmes soutenus et lourds livrés sur enregistrement avec autant d’ardeur que sur scène en live. C’est comme si le temps passé à la maison ne faisait que mettre plus de pression sur les frustrations créatives et permettant de canaliser les enjeux sociaux: ces huit pistes en sont la crachante réponse.
Personnellement pour mon état d’esprit, ça fait du bien à écouter, alimentant ma flamme intérieure pour livrer plus d’actions. Bien que je n’aime pas comparer, j’ai un petit rappel de la sonorité de TERROR. Mais ce n’est pas TERROR, ils sont SCARFOLD de Montréal et c’est plus que suffisant pour moi. Je conseille fortement en entrainement cardio ou musculaire! Bonne écoute.

When I first heard this band, they were opening for GET THE SHOT in 2019. That night, they blew my mind away with their energy and unapologetic style. Yes, this is what hardcore is supposed to be, but SCARFOLD did it so well that I was hooked instantly. Fast forward to now: they released their fourth album « We Shall Suffer » by the end of late September.
These gentlemen keep bringing that violent tone to their music and message. From the first single (and video) « Born Decayed » to the very soft end of « Spit On Hope », I could hear 28 minutes of steady and heavy rhythms delivered on recording as hard as on a live stage.
It’s like the time spent at home only puts more pressure on creative frustrations to channel the social issues and these eight tracks are the spewing answer. It feels good to hear for my personal mood, and it fuels my inner fire to do more.Although I do not like to compare, I am reminded a little bit of TERROR. But they are not TERROR, they are SCARFOLD from Montreal, and that is more than enough for me. Happy listening and I strongly recommend it for your cardio or strength training!
