IRISH MOUTARDE + CRASH TON ROCK | L’ANTI | 15.03.2024

Comme on s’y attendait, L’ANTI était plein pour la soirée à l’occasion de la fin de semaine de la Saint-Patrick. Et cette soirée va être longue, mais dans le bon sens du terme! 

En premier, CRASH TON ROCK, de Jonquière, nous balance un punk rock bien rythmé, en français merci. Avec déjà quatre albums, le groupe peut piger dans ceux-ci pour nous offrir un bon setlist de pièces remontant à 2007 et aussi des plus récentes comme « L’addiction ». Ils sont six (Jonathan/Joe – voix, Dany – guitare, Sébastien – basse, Jeff P. – batterie, Guillaume – guitare/accordéon, Jeff G. – guitare), et s’accompagnent l’un l’autre au micro, et je dois dire que c’est rare que je vois un groupe moins connu rassembler autant les gens.

Il faut dire qu’ils ont déjà leurs fans puisque CRASH TON ROCK existe depuis plus d’une quinzaine d’années, et ça paraît aussi sur scène : l’aisance, l’enchaînement des tounes, la détermination malgré les micros qui ne collaborent pas tout le temps.

Le chanteur se permet même d’aller sur le parterre pour se mêler au public qui remplit la salle. Et, vers la fin apparaît un accordéon, comme en introduction de ce qui suit…

Sous un éclairage TRÈS vert, ce sont ensuite nos amis d’IRISH MOUTARDE qui accaparent la place et causent le chaos dans la joie et la bonne humeur. Irlandais et Écossais, même combat : c’est au son de la cornemuse que la troupe s’annonce.

En plus, on se fait gâter, car la setlist ne fait pas une page mais deux! Un total d’environ 25 tounes bien tassées et bien arrosées, dont pratiquement toutes celles de l’album Raise ‘Em All, deux nouveautés (« Charlie Mops » et « Free Market Anarchy ») et quelques reprises à la sauce-moutarde irlandaise, avec le concours des fans qui ne se font pas prier pour chanter haut et fort, le bras levé avec un verre à la main. Les musiciens se partagent les chansons, parfois c’est Sébastien à la batterie qui chante, parfois c’est Tony au banjo, le plupart du temps étant bien sûr la dynamique Andrée-Anne, qui joue aussi de l’accordéon de façon acrobatique.

Leur complicité, aussi avec Gabor à la cornemuse, Jérôme à la guitare et Fred à la basse, est magnifique.

C’est beau et entraînant de les voir aller. Tout le monde a un grand sourire étampé dans le visage. Il se fait tard mais on ne voit pas le temps passer. Enfin quand on dit que les absents ont tort, ce soir ils ont doublement tort, car ceux qui sont partis avant la fin manquent alors le clou de la soirée : une prestation acoustique sur le comptoir du bar avec Andrée-Anne et Tony.

Disons-le, IRISH MOUTARDE, ce n’est pas de la petite bière 😊

Quel party! Que je recommande fortement à tous ceux qui n’auront pas eu l’occasion de célébrer la Saint-Patrick comme il se doit. Et même, n’importe quand! Sláinte!

As expected, L’ANTI was packed for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend party. And it’s going to be a long night, but in a good way! 

First up is CRASH TON ROCK, from Jonquière, whose rhythmic punk rock is delivered in French, thank you very much. With four albums under their belts, the band can draw on these to offer us a good setlist of songs dating back to 2007, as well as more recent ones like « L’addiction ». There are six of them (Jonathan/Joe on vocals, Dany and Jeff G. on guitars, Sébastien on bass, Jeff P. on drums, Guillaume on guitar and accordion), and they all sing along, and I have to say that I’ve seldom seen a lesser-known band bring people together so much. It has to be said that they already have their fans, since CRASH TON ROCK has been around for over fifteen years, and it shows: the ease on stage, the pacing of the set, the determination despite mics that don’t always cooperate. The singer even takes the opportunity to step down unto the floor to mingle with the packed audience. And, towards the end, an accordion appears, as if introducing what is to follow…

Under VERY green lighting, our friends from IRISH MOUTARDE take over and cause chaos with joy and good humor. Irish and Scottish, same battle: the troupe announces itself to the sound of bagpipes. What’s more, the setlist is not just one page long, but two! A total of some 25 well-packed, drinking tunes, including virtually all those from the Raise ‘Em All album, two new songs (« Charlie Mops » et « Free Market Anarchy ») and a few « Irish mustard » flavored covers, with the help of the fans, who don’t hesitate to sing along loud and clear, arm raised, with a drink in hand. The musicians are sharing the spotlight, sometimes it’s drummer Sébastien singing, sometimes it’s Tony on banjo, most of the time of course being the dynamic Andrée-Anne, who also plays the accordion with lots of flex. Their complicity, too, with Gabor on bagpipes, Jérôme on guitar and Fred on bass, is magnificent. It’s so beautiful and fun to watch them go. Everyone has a big smile stamped on their face. It’s getting late, but we can’t see the time go by. And when they say « you snooze you lose », tonight the absentees are losing big time, because those who left before the end are missing the highlight of the evening: an acoustic performance on the bar countertop with Andrée-Anne and Tony. Let’s say it, IRISH MOUTARDE are no small potatoes😊

What a party! I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t had a chance to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day properly. In fact, anytime! Sláinte!
